Marmoset Jelly
Marmoset Jelly Suitable Species Nursing and adolescent Marmosets and similar species of New World Primates. All non-human primates that are ill or under similar stress may find it palatable and beneficial. Nutritional Benefits .High protein, high energy food designed to provide the majority of the daily nutrient requirements- .Can be mixed with pieces of fruit and their juices to enhance palatability. .Acceptable form to feed to the animals with minimum of food intake. Ingredients Soya Bean Meal, Whey Powder, Skim Milk ~powder, Casein, Gelatine, Whole Egg Dried, Soya Oil, Starch, I Glucose, Sucrose, Cellulose Powder, Vitamin and Mineral Mix. Feeding Recommendations Being a highly nutritious diet no more that 15g per day should be fed. Fresh fruit and other foods such as Primate Pellets should be made available. Marmoset Jelly is supplied as a powder. The powder should be dissolved in hot water to a sort of thickish pasty solution and poured onto a small tray and then cooled in a refrigerator to aid setting. When set, the gel can be cut into convenient sized pieces. Concentration can be varied to provide different gel strengths. 1 part powder: 3 parts water or 2 parts powder: 1 part water, We Have found that our Marmosets and Tamarins are reluctant to take it in this form, so we dissolve one teaspoon of jelly powder into a small amount of hot water to a runny liquid then add this liquid to a Porridge such as “Quaker Oats So Simple” that has fruit flavour this is given twice a week and we find that our marmosets eat it with out any problems even 3 weeks old babies eat it, we do make it quite runny as the jelly start to thicken otherwise. Additional Information Has proved particularly useful in Wasting Marmoset Syndrome or in other conditions where a loss of appetite, it also helps the recovery of after illness or nursing mothers.
